If you are as old as me you will probably remember the Saab 9-3, they were a pretty unassuming car, saloon bodystyle with a simplistic smart appeal. I never drove one, but i remember one of my school friends mom’s had one and she always seemed to be pretty proud of the fact, so I’ve always thought it must be an alright motor.

The new 9-3 will eventually come as the result of a partnership between the rights owners of Saab and the Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), they have apparently agreed to build the new 9-3 as the new national car for Turkey. The national car will be built on the 9-3 platform however they will be using a brand new electric powertrain that was developed by NEVS three years ago before they went bankrupt. Whether or not the Saab 9-3 will be developed for other markets is still up for debate. It’s very much a middle of the field kind of car, similar to say a second hand Volvo S80.
